      diese passive "wir sind konsumenten" scheisse ist doch genau das problem...

      ich hab mir das print buch gekauft für 22 euro, hab den buchrücken aufgeschnitten mit ner kreissäge, und hab die 208 seiten durch meinen ADF scanner gejagt (Brother ADS-3000N, 150eur gebraucht). ohne vorbereitung ist das vielleicht ne halbe stunde arbeit. dann noch die scans rotieren, croppen, leveln, und durch tesseract jagen. für tesseract braucht man ne schnelle CPU.

      aktuell tu ich die hocr dateien von tesseract korrekturlesen, später werd ich ne pdf draus machen und über libgen.rs auf annas-archive.org hochladen - ein problem weniger.

      mann mann mann... als "IT insider" bin ich so gelangweilt von den normies, die beim thema IT vor 20 jahren stehen geblieben sind, kein plan haben von linux, git, python, torproject, monero, ... aber hauptsache scheisse labern in telegram >: (

    1. In my case, out of about 100 people visiting the site, around 20-30 people will click on the "buy now" button and about 5 will go through with a purchase.
    2. Getting on the front page of HN is admittedly, luck. I got lucky with my Show HN post.
    3. Implementing PPP / VAT reduction probably increased my sales 15-30%.
    4. I reached out to recruiters and hiring managers in my network and beyond, asked for their support.
    5. I then took it to Twitter to offer free ebooks for up to 1,000 people
    6. I started writing a book after offering free resume reviews for developers, getting overwhelmed with the responses, and wrote a short PDF in response to be able to keep up with the demand.
    7. 516 customers bought the book at $15 at launch (or lower, thanks to PPP) 272 customers bought the complete package ($29 at launch, or lower with PPP: book + video Standard Resume offer )

    1. This book was written to help educators and instructional designers to design visually appealing courses (and curricular materials) that are also digitally accessible. I argue that applying graphic design principles reduces barriers, lowers cognitive load, and improves learning.       Despite some concessions to access in the early start of the pandemic, publishers have returned to aggressive pricing of textbooks. A group of library, educational organizations in the UK have organized together around the #ebooksos campaign to press for more fair and sustainable pricing.       The paper calls for “immediate action by publishers an aggregators to introduce more sustainable and affordable pricing models for e-books and e-textbooks” and pledges the signatory bodies to work towards a “fairer and more transparent marketplace” so that “students and teachers in UK higher and further education can gain equitable and sustainable access to e-books, e-textbooks.”
