    1. it's daunting because they're 00:37:18 all happening simultaneously in a way people don't recognize they're all kind of integrated with each other and they and they're reinforcing each other it's people call this kind of perfect storm but they don't but the problem with the 00:37:30 language the perfect storm terminology is it sort of implies that each one of these things whether it's economic stress or climate change or political polarization rising authoritarianism 00:37:41 you know collapse of mammalian populations they're all kind of separate distinct problems but actually they're all they're all affecting each other at this point
      • for: polycrisis, perfect storm, reinforcing feedbacks,

        • the polycrisis is a network of self-reinforcing and diverse crisis:
          • political polarization
          • war
          • fossil fuel entrenchment and expansion
          • precarity

          • misinformation and interference of sovereign voting
          • emergence of authoritarianism
          • incorrect focus of effort - tinkering at the margins
          • runaway inequality - wealth, racial, post colonial, gender
          • dominance of capitalist wealth aspiration
          • rapid change required for entire system
          • sense of despair, hopelessness, anger, fear
          • mass extinction
          • climate departure
          • increasing health burden
          • runaway pollution
          • lack of effective government regulation
          • approaching planetary tipping points
        • the "perfect storm" assumes that these crisis are not related, but they are all syncrhonizing through positive feedbacks -their self-reinforcing positive feedbacks amplify all of them together and it can reach a threshold beyond human institutions to be able to cope
        • Commanding Hope or "Hope to" is critical for meeting these challenges

    1. Legends of a storm god such as Ba’al defeating the sea are very common in the Ancient Near East.

Storm gods like Baal are commonly seen defeating the sea in legends in the ancient Near East.

Link this to mention of Rahab in Job 26:12.

    1. There are both broadly immunosuppressive approaches, such as high-dose corticosteroids, and more novel targeted approaches that go after inflammatory cytokine proteins
    2. There are also a few effective treatments for cytokine storms despite the fact that we still do not know exactly which treatments will ultimately be developed and recommended across the board for COVID-19 related cytokine storms.
    3. Cytokine storms also can be indicated by liver enzyme abnormalities.
    4. Luckily, the tests to diagnose cytokine storms are often cheap and readily available in hospitals.
    5. When your body responds the way it is supposed to, the cytotoxic T-cells will only target infected cells to be killed and move along. Additionally, the immune response also has a chemical indicator that ideally tells overzealous immune response cells to stand down once the threat has been neutralized. It is when we are in the throes of a cytokine storm that those systems start to get overwhelmed and malfunction. In essence, our body’s immune response gets so amped up that it stops differentiating between infected and healthy cells and attacks everything in its path.

    1. In the present study, we also found that markers of inflammatory response, such as C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, and leukocytes, were significantly increased among patients who suffered from cardiac injury. The activation or enhanced release of these inflammatory cytokines can lead to apoptosis or necrosis of myocardial cells.
    1. Third, Huang’s study noted that high concentration of IL-1β, IFN-γ, IP-10 and MCP-1 could be detected in patients infected with 2019-nCoV, which might lead to activated T-helper-1 (Th1) cell responses [4]. Furthermore, they also found that ICU patients had much higher concentrations of inflammatory factors than those non-ICU patients, suggesting that the cytokine storm was associated with disease severity
    1. Other proposed mechanisms of myocardial injury include a cytokine storm triggered by an imbalanced response by type 1 and type 2 T helper cells
