- summary
- Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETP) are happening in South Africa and also Indonesia, Vietnam, Senegal and possibly India.
- Will these actually happen? Will they be enough to avoid the highest risk of planetary tipping points?
-
Ramalope says they also don’t go far enough. “I think the weakness of JETPs is that they’re not encouraging 1.5 [degrees] Celsius,”
- for: 1.5 Deg target, JETP, JETP ambitions
- comment
- the JETPs do not go far enough. This is dangerous as it still allows significant amounts of fossil fuel emissions that will breach 1.5 Deg C and increase chances of breaching severe planetary tipping points
-
Just Energy Transition Partnerships, or JETPs, an attempt to catalyze global finance for emerging economies looking to shift energy reliance away from fossil fuels in a way that doesn’t leave certain people and communities behind.
- for: Just transition, Just Energy Transition, Just Energy Transition partnerships, JETP
-
Question
-
How does JETP fit into the global transition in terms of:
- speed
- climate justice
- decolonialism
-
Is net zero enough?

Airborne gave us enough credibility to knock on other doors. I realized that the prime competitors in the logistics and courier business feared one another more than they would fear us. So we sold our services as being provided by safe, neutral hands

Promised partnerships with major news media organizations never materialized, except in the case of The Washington Post’s Fix blog, which still occasionally uses the platform to annotate the news.

women and housewives have totake on many of the tasks traditionally assigned to men like paying bills, attending to bank business, dealing with car mechanics, daily shopping, taking children from school, or going to government offices.
I think this is a good thing. It puts women closer to holding equal ground with men within the household and outside it.

If partnering for software development were easy, it would be the norm today. It is not easy. It requires a cooperative mindset, disciplined choices among staff, and leaders’ consistent vision that the value of partnering over the long term exceeds the easy short-term gains of defecting to local priorities.
partnering is hard
