La netnografía o etnografía permite observar en el mundo digital las interacciones de las comunidades o grupos digitales. El proceso de la etnografía se enfoca en los datos cualitativos (descripción cultural dé un grupo, ideas, interacciones ), se tiene que definir el problema, Demarcación: selección de grupo o bien una comunidad. Preparación y documentación: acentuar el área que vamos a seleccionar para observar con el método etnográfico. Trabajo de campo: instrumentos con los cuales vamos a recolectar los datos cualitativos mediante la observación de grupos seleccionados. Construcción informe: consta de la descripción, traducción, explicación e Interpretación (Velasco & Díaz de Rada, 2006, p. 42) retomando lo que plantea el autor esto será el escrito resultante de la investigación que interprete todos los datos que se recolectaron.
