    1. After remaining members of the group performed a tribute to the late Glenn Frey during the Grammys and the show cut to commercial, the group inside the Staples Center saw a bit more. Show producer Ken Ehrlich stopped them from leaving the stage. He said when they were nominated for “Hotel California” in 1977, they didn’t want to attend the awards if they weren’t sure they were going to win, so they didn’t — and then he and Neil Portnow gave them their trophy, all these years later, for “one of the best albums ever made.”

Eagles skipped the Grammys in 1977 because they didn't want to attend if they weren't sure they were going to win. The ultimately did win that night, but weren't presented with the award until the 2016 Grammys at the Staples Center where the remaining members of the group performed a tribute to the late Glenn Frey.

    1. Students should already know the meaning of these expressions from pre-reading activity when we went through all questions in questionnaire together. If they do not remember it I do not translate them before. It will be too easy so in that occasion they are supposed to guess the right meaning on their own.

    1. Sam Bowman. (2021, January 25). If the govt can’t keep a few thousand people fed in hotel quarantine, how exactly was it supposed to provide for fifteen million pensioners self-isolating in Great Barrington-style ‘focused protection’ while the virus was spreading across the rest of the population? 1. Fredric Jameson describes his experience and frustration with the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles

I read through the next few paragraphs and struggled to understand the point they were making with these examples. I wanted more context, which I found helped a great deal in understanding the point being made here, so I thought you folks might appreciate that, as well. Here is the hotel:

And here is an excerpt from the aforementioned text in which Jameson discusses the hotel. Important points are helpfully in red: https://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~janzb/courses/hum3930b/jameson1.htm

    1. Triton Shared Computing Cluster Triton Shared Computing Cluster (TSCC) is a new computational cluster for research computing available through UC San Diego's RCI program. Designed as a turnkey, high performance computing resource, it features flexible usage and business models and professional system administration. Unlike traditional clusters, TSCC is a collaborative system wherein the majority of nodes are purchased and shared by the cluster users, known as condo owners. In addition to the participant-contributed condo nodes, TSCC has a collection of hotel nodes which are available to condo owners and to other researchers on a rental basis. The condo and hotel configurations contain both standard two-socket nodes and GPU nodes. The hotel configuration also features eight 512GB large-memory nodes. The table below provides a brief technical summary of TSCC.

SDSC Triton Share Computing Cluster (TSCC) uses both condo and hotel terminology.
