    1. In the United States, we have col-lectively decided that we are not going to protect all families to the same degree, and this is reflected in our social policies and resulting poverty rates for thesefamilies.

Presumably this is part of the reason for the problem mentioned above: https://hypothes.is/a/2uAmuEENEe2KentYKORSww

    1. Dowdy, D. (2021, September 21). On the J&J booster news, keep in mind: 1. Median follow-up since 2nd dose was just 36 days, 2. Efficacy vs moderate COVID was 75% globally, and 3. Total number of cases in the US was 15. Please don’t take this to mean that a 2nd dose provides long-term increase in protection. The images accompanying the story show that the Roll-Over Protection System (ROPS) was inactive and locked in the "down" position.

These mowers are made by Excel. In the manual for my Excel mower (similar design but sold under another brand) not only do they warn of steep slopes like those shown in the photo, but they also warn to ALWAYS operate the mower with the ROPS locked in the up position except for temporarily lowering it to get under tree branches or other low-hanging obstacles.

Most of the time I see mowers equipped with ROPS, the operators have it locked in the down position.

    1. Companies need to actually have an ethics panel, and discuss what the issues are and what the needs of the public really are. Any ethics board must include a diverse mix of people and experiences. Where possible, companies should look to publish the results of these ethics boards to help encourage public debate and to shape future policy on data use.

    1. Eric Topol. (2021, June 9). Despite increasing incentives, the US vaccination campaign is really struggling. Notably, the top 5 states are approaching 60% total population fully vaccinated which should provide strong protection vs the delta variant. 1. Prof Claire J. Horwell 😷. (2021, December 2). With UK regs changing to mandatory #masks, here’s a short 🧵to answer the question: Can you wear a disposable #facemask more than once? The answer is YES. Many manufacturers state that masks should be disposed of after 8 hours but this is not true.
