During a visit to Moscow in 2015, Franklin Graham—the son of the late Southern Baptist leader Billy Graham—told Kirill that many Americans wished that someone like Putin could be their president.
-
According to Sarah Riccardi-Swartz, a scholar of Orthodoxy who teaches at Northeastern University, in Boston, the new converts tend to be right-wing and Russophile, and some speak freely of their admiration for Putin’s “kingly” role. In the U.S., converts are concentrated in the South and Midwest, and some have become ardent online evangelists for the idea that “Dixie,” with its beleaguered patriarchal traditions, is a natural home for Russian Orthodoxy. Some of them adorn their websites with a mash-up of Confederate nostalgia and icons of Russian saints.
Many in the southern United States are converting to Orthodox Christianity, a conversion which is tied into patriarchal ideas on the far right.

I think part and you see this kind of delicate dance that when things are going uh uh too slow so people vote in a more 00:25:29 liberal Administration that will speed things up and will be more creative Bolder in its social experiments and when things go too fast then you say okay liberals you had your chance now 00:25:41 let's bring the conservatives to slow down a little and and have a bit of of a breath
-
for: insight - conservative vs liberal - speed of sdopting social norm
-
insight
- liberals are voted in to speed up adoption of a new social -
- conservatives are voted in to slow down the acceptance of a social norm
- paradoxically, humans have both a conservative and a liberal nature. We naturally have a tendency to both conserve and to try new things.

Maybe once the core onError lifecycle is implemented (if maintainers decide to go that way) everyone will discover you're right and an implementation will be built in. I think that's probably what's going to happen. But until real life has proved it, it's usually best to go for the smallest most broadly applicable solution. I can definitely imagine <svelte:error> eventually being a thing, but it's a pretty dramatic change compared to an added importable function.

And contrary to that science-denying slogan of Margaret Thatcher’s, that “there is no such thing as society,” no human has ever survived or thrived without a tribe or society.
Is this a general feature of the conservative far right of constantly denying our humanity and care for each other?

But conservatives also believe that in the right circumstances, people are motivated by the positive moral emotions—especially sympathy and benevolence, but also admiration, patriotism, charity, and loyalty.
Thoughts and prayers. A lot of thoughts and prayers. They buy in to emotions alright, to belief: sympathy & benevolence are reserved for the community, for those with moral caliber as high as theirs, while attempts to prepare & make better are regarded as too rational, destined to become rotting hinderments, unable to be improved or addressed; they believe in the perpetual constant & ongoing failure of the rational, and only in their own emotions.
-
Conservatives put a lot of faith in the latent wisdom that is passed down by generations, cultures, families, and institutions, and that shows up as a set of quick and ready intuitions about what to do in any situation.
Conservatives actively resist society allowing itself to prepare against ills or trying to improve the common welfare. It seems to trust only in it's ancestors & it's own superiority.

“That’s why we’re rolling up our sleeves to register conservative-leaning voters who have been overlooked, to regularly engage more communities, and to strengthen election integrity across our state.”
It's interesting that Loeffler mentions increasing the overlooked conservative's vote-- it does make me wonder if her reaction would have been the same had she won. Furthermore, this is where Blow begins his examples of conservative leaders and their takes on recent election results (exemplification).

One thing to consider is that getting used to this being enabled in your profile may result in some confusion if you run into a situation where your personalized profile configuration isn't applied (rebuilt machine, shell scripts which may run on other machines, etc). There's some benefit to sticking close to defaults. This is definitely a conservative viewpoint, however.

basic infrastructure
Each and every word of this can be debated upon.
What comes under basic infrastructure?
I presume everyone thinks about high investment hard infrastructure like roads, rail networks, fibre optic and electric lines, airports etc.
Are public schools and colleges included?
- Are medicare and social safety nets counted as basic infrastructure?
- Is defining criteria of intellectual property and granting patents counted?
- What about public transportation?
- Funding early scientific research?
Or do we expect all of these to be funded through charity?

Berkeley linguist and cognitive scientist George Lakoff has famously argued that liberals and conservatives operate with competing and incompatible concepts of freedom. (For analysis of the evangelical theocratic understanding of freedom, click here.) While the physical metaphor at the core of our understanding of freedom remains the same, liberals and conservatives cognitively frame that core concept in radically different ways that are linked closely to the two groups’ approaches to family. The “strict-father” model of family corresponds to conservatism (and authoritarianism), whereas the “nurturant parenting” model corresponds to liberalism.
This is the second or third reference to this I've seen now in the past couple of months. I obviously need to read more Lakoff, though the general conceit rings true to me on its face.

The conservative influence of property does not, however, depend on primogeniture or even inheritance -- features that gave property a valuable role in Burke's political system as well as in the political theories advanced by Hegel and Plato. n11 Within a single lifetime, property tends to make the property owner more risk-averse. This aversion applies both to public decisions [*291] affecting property, such as taxes, and to personal decisions that might diminish one's property, such as investment strategies and career choices. Inheritance and capital appreciation are only additional characteristics of traditional notions of property that tend to stabilize social stratification.
-
In many quarters, property is viewed as an inherently conservative concept --
a social device for maintenance of the status quo
