Based on yesterday's discussion at Dan Allosso's Book Club, we don't include defense spending into the consumer price index for calculating inflation or other market indicators. What other things (communal goods) aren't included into these measures, but which potentially should be to take into account the balance of governmental spending versus individual spending. It seems unfair that individual sectors, particularly those like defense contracting which are capitalistic in nature, but which are living on governmental rent extraction, should be free from the vagaries of inflation?
Throwing them into the basket may create broader stability for the broader system and act as a brake via feedback mechanisms which would push those corporations to work for the broader economic good, particularly when they're taking such a large piece of the overall pie.
Similarly how might we adjust corporate tax rates with respect to the level of inflation to prevent corporate price gouging during times of inflation which seems to be seen in the current 2023 economic climate. Workers have seen some small gains in salary since the pandemic, but inflationary pressures have dramatically eaten into these taking the gains and then some back into corporate coffers. The FED can increase interest rates to effect some change, but this doesn't change corporate price gouging in any way, tax or other policies will be necessary to do this.

Justice in the context of consumption corridorsmeans that every person deserves access to a defned minimum level ofecological and social resources necessary to be able to live a good life, solely because they are a human being (what scholars call a natural-law-based perspective on justice).
- Definition - Natural Law
- a natural law based perspective of justice claims that every person deserves access to a defined minimum level of ecological and social resources necessary to live a "good life".

Minimum consumption standards will ensure that individualsliving now or in the future are able to satisfy their needs, safeguardingaccess to the necessary quality and quantity of ecological and socialresources. Maximum consumption standards, in turn, are needed toensure that consumption by some individuals does not threaten theopportunity for a good life for others. The space between the foor ofminimum consumption standards and the ceiling of maximum con-sumption standards produces a sustainable consumption corridor.

By dropping or reducing or postponing the least importantparts, we can unblock ourselves and move forward even when timeis scarce.
When working on a project, to stave off potential procrastination on finishing, one should focus on the minimum viable version and finish that. They can then progressively enhance portions and add on addition pieces which may be beneficial or even nice to have.
Spending too much time on the things that sound nice or that one "might want to have" in the future will be the death of the thing.

The reason for this has been discussed earlier in the context of the minimum information principle: you should always try to make sure your brain works in the exactly same way at each repetition.
There is research that one's first guess or intuition is often correct. In a similar mode, one's first associative thought will likely be the strongest and easiest to remember. It's also more likely that the thought path will occur again and thereby make that association easier to remember in the future.
What does this research indicate? Has anyone tested for this effect? Does it have a name? the TK effect? (And if it doesn't the TK Effect is actually quite an apt one.)
This doesn't seem to be the same definition of the minimum information principle as before.

The easiest way I've found to manage that is to copy hardware-configuration.nix and a minimal version of configuration.nix and import it into the NixOps config for the corresponding machine. Programming languages and operating systems Stanford CoreNLP is written in Java; recent releases require Java 1.8+. You need to have Java installed to run CoreNLP. However, you can interact with CoreNLP via the command-line or its web service; many people use CoreNLP while writing their own code in Javascript, Python, or some other language. You can use Stanford CoreNLP from the command-line, via its original Java programmatic API, via the object-oriented simple API, via third party APIs for most major modern programming languages, or via a web service. It works on Linux, macOS, and Windows. License The full Stanford CoreNLP is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3 or later. More precisely, all the Stanford NLP code is GPL v2+, but CoreNLP uses some Apache-licensed libraries, and so our understanding is that the the composite is correctly licensed as v3+.

Concurrent use of both medications puts patients at a significant risk of bleeding that warrants appropriate management strategies
Clinical consequences and Serious
-
Algorithm
Patient Context and Operational classification
-
Warfarin is a vitamin K antagonist, which competitively inhibits a series of coagulation factors, as well as proteins C and S. These factors are biologically activated by the addition of carboxyl groups depending on vitamin K. Warfarin competitively inhibits this chemical reaction, thus depleting functional vitamin K reserves and hence reducing the synthesis of active coagulation factors.
Mechanism
-
Non-selective NSAIDs inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2 at different extent, leading varying effects on bleeding.(11, 12) COX-1 catalyzes the initial step in the formation of thromboxane (TxA2), and prostaglandins.(11, 12) TxA2 stimulates platelet aggregation.(13) Prostaglandins protect the gastrointestinal tract by increasing mucosal blood flow and the thickness of mucus layer, stimulating bicarbonate secretion, and reducing gastric acid secretion.(
Mechanism
-
Misoprostol also has been demonstrated to help prevent gastric ulcer in those who receive NSAIDs.
Recommended action
-
Therefore, alternate management strategies such as utilizing proton pump inhibitors or misoprostol may help reduce bleeding events.
Recommended action
-
Thus, avoiding and/or limiting the use of NSAIDs is an ideal strategy to prevent serious complication from these medications.
Recommended action
-
Both corticosteroids and aldosterone antagonists have been shown to substantially increase the risk of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients on NSAIDs, with relative risks of 12.8 and 11 respectively compared to a risk of 4.3 with NSAIDs alone
Risk modifying factor
-
Several risk factors for NSAID-related gastroduodenal bleeding are old age, a history of peptic ulcer disease, high dosages of NSAIDs, concomitant use of different NSAIDs.
Risk modifying factor
-
The VKORC1 and CYP2C9 genotypes are the most important known genetic determinants of warfarin dosing. Warfarin targets VKORC1, an enzyme involved in vitamin K recycling. The variants CYP2C9*2 and *3, required with a lower dose of warfarin. The FDA-approved drug label for warfarin states that CYP2C9 and VKORC1 genotype information, when available, can assist in the selection of the initial dose of warfarin.
Risk modifying factor
-
Concomitant NSAIDs occur with 24.3% of warfarin courses of therapy
Frequency of exposure

minimum wages that destroy jobs
I'm sure this is just being brought in here as an example of something rather split-brained that voters do, but I believe it's not well established that higher minimum wages "destroy jobs".
