Edutech wiki This page has a somewhat messy design and does not look very modern but it does offer overviews of many topics related to technologies. Just like wikipedia, it offers a good jumping off point on many topics. Navigation can occur by clicking through categories and drilling down to topics, which is easier for those who already know the topic they are looking for and how it is likely to be characterized. One of the proposals would be togenerate more spaces for sharing knowledges. Eg providing virtual spaces, eg I have done this, what has and hasn ́t worked. I admire what you do in Unitierra, and the Zapatista, and my context is very different, so we need to change the way of looking atthings.
There is a thing which we call Federated Wiki, that challenges how we produce knowledge : http://federated.wiki/federated-wiki-introduction.html

Driving this shift is Taiwan’s underlying geopolitical strategy to decrease its dependence on Mainland China and increase its ties with the rest of Asia.
Taiwan's goals on becoming a pan-Asian identity through decreasing its dependence on Mainland China may not have been the best or well thought out plan. This is because it can cause a lot of negative outcomes. One reason may be that the US does not recognise Taiwan's Independence, ending all diplomatic relations with them but not with China. This is a prime example of how even though Taiwan is looking for change and trying to become pan-Asian, the rest of the world may not share their ideology.

The fraught United States presidential election cycle of 2016 has revealed a country divided along geographical and ideological lines. It has also bolstered a narrative of haves and have-nots, pitting the so-called coastal elites against “heartland” America.
The 2016 US presidential election caused a huge divide among the country both geographical and ideological. There was a divide against the coastal states and "heartland" America. Where economically large coastal states such as California had been won over by Hillary, from the democrats. This was due to sharing similar values and ideologies. On the other land the majority of heartland states had voted for Trump, the republican party. This was mainly because people in the heartland states were still affected by the financial crisis of 2008. There was economic revival for the coastal states, heartland America was still affected. Thus this caused geographical and ideological division among the American people.

Green Day drew inspiration from Chinese communist propaganda art the band saw in art galleries on Melrose Avenue. The band aimed for the cover to be "at once uniform and powerful". The album's artwork—"a Posada-stark print of a heart-shaped hand grenade gripped in a blood-soaked fist"—is representative of its political content.

"Wikity is social bookmarks, wikified." -- Mike Caulfield<br> http://rainystreets.wikity.cc/<br> https://github.com/michaelarthurcaulfield/wikity-zero/
as far as I can tell, Wikity is the simplest way to run a personal wiki on top of WordPress. But the focus is a hyperlinked bookmarking and notetaking system, because after a year of use and 2,000 cards logged, I can tell you that is where the unique value is.

We can now begin to see that the reason for why Du Bois was marginalized, and why his influence has been obscured, is not just his skin color. It is also that he was intellectual insurrectionary – intellectually heterodox – challenging the hegemony of scientific racism upon which white sociology had been mounted at the time.
Du Bois probably didn't gain much recognition on the work he did for Sociology because of his involvement in the Civil Rights movement. Go had said that he had dangerous ideas, which, at the time, he did. He was very involved in different groups that protested against the discrimination that was happening at the time. This is what he was more known for. Higher officials probably didn't want give more attention to Du Bois than he already had gained, so they didn't credit him for his work in Sociology.

The problem, said Ward, was that wiki was a relentless consensus engine. And for certain things (e.g. encyclopedias) that might not be a bad thing, but as a way of working it had its drawbacks.
I'm fascinated by this point.
This was/is one of the critiques of (Rap) Genius as well: hip as its authoritative voice was, it nonetheless moved toward the encyclopedia. Though the company has since pivoted to allow more individual commentary than encyclopedic exposition--I don't think they've quite worked this out in the UI yet--the original site, and the part I think that is still most compelling was the Wikipedia for rap lyrics.
But from a pedagogical perspective, that expository mode of analysis was really only one, and perhaps not even the most important, use of collaborative annotation. For my part, I allowed teachers to duplicate texts and create their own versions, instructing their students to annotate however thy wanted them to: authoritatively, discursively, inquisitively, with GIFs.
-
own version of the page,
So this forking is something I've long not grasped from this wiki revival (and the whole git movement). What if the need for consensus has less to do with the need for singular, encyclopedic voice than simply a single page. That is, it's a UI problem more than a content problem.
Perhaps I need to spend more time in GitHub et al., but generally I don't want to read a bunch of separate takes on a thing. For me, the window of time in which a hashtag is useful for knowledge gathering is quite short. I feel like I would get lost among the forks.
Part of the reason that I like annotation is that the "fork" of the original content is not too distant and still very much attached to a single page. To me that trail seems cleaner and clearer than duplicating content and starting a new path...

What Are the Close-to-Best Examples of Blog and Wiki-Based Classes in Each Discipline?

Blogs tend towards conversational and quotative reuse, which is great for some subject areas, but not so great for others. Wiki feeds forward into a consensus process that provides a high level of remix and reuse, but at the expense of personal control and the preservation of divergent goals. Wikity takes lessons from federated wiki, combining the individual control of blogging with the permissionless improvement of wiki.
Mike Caulfield introduces http://wikity.cc, a personal wiki platform in which editing is blog-like (it runs on WordPress), but pages can be easily copied and remixed.
I am particularly excited about ways it might be used to help faculty and students to collaborate on OER across institutions.

Users publish coursework, build portfolios or tinker with personal projects, for example.
Useful examples. Could imagine something like Wikity, FedWiki, or other forms of content federation to work through this in a much-needed upgrade from the “Personal Home Pages” of the early Web. Do see some connections to Sandstorm and the new WordPress interface (which, despite being targeted at WordPress.com users, also works on self-hosted WordPress installs). Some of it could also be about the longstanding dream of “keeping our content” in social media. Yes, as in the reverse from Facebook. Multiple solutions exist to do exports and backups. But it can be so much more than that and it’s so much more important in educational contexts.

In open education we have generally focused on the rights that individuals have to remix content, while not providing or using publishing tools that make it easy to fork content in ways that make sense to non-programming communities. Wikity attempts to apply the tools and logic of forking to WordPress, the world's most popular web content platform. Content published in Wikity is easily forked to new sites while maintaining an attribution trail and keeping track of past versions.
Mike Caulfield is working on WordPress software to make Federated Wiki concepts accessible to a wider audience. http://wikity.cc/ is the most recent result.

But emails are widely understood AKA: "Vanity domains are a very small minority of nerds. Email addresses have the widest common understanding by the average internet user." Decades ago email addresses were a very small minority of nerds, fax machines had a wider common understanding. Email addresses are a more well established technology, just like fax numbers used to be before that, and home landline phone numbers before that. Each was subsequently eclipsed. Email is simply the current such transitional legacy technology.
You cannot imagine how much I regularly suffer due to being part of this "very small minority of nerds". Unfortunately the will not to learn about these different ways is very strong.
