Procedural Errors • Predetermining a student’s placement or services:
I feel like I hear the comment, "They qualify" or "they don't qualify" before IEPs ever take place.
Can parents insist on their child being on an IEP even if testing doesn't determine qualification?
-
A procedural error that may occur at any point during the IEP process is failure to involve parents
I have 3 of my own children on IEPs. How come I am not notified in advance the kind of testing that is to be done and what it is for?
Usually I just show up to the IEP meeting they they say, well we did this testing -- I may or may not understand what it was for or why it was given.
Also, can parents suggest different tests? Like why can't my school do a dyslexia screener?

Faculty development.
Physical spaces for technology-based learning do not have to be student-only spaces, and actually giving faculty the choice to use these spaces as well may keep the curriculum fresh, the faculty updated on what works best for the students and students interested and feeling like their learning needs and styles are being met.

Dormitories, sufficient each for the accommodation of two students only, this provision being deemed advantageous to morals, to order, & to uninterrupted study
I think it is interesting that the lawn rooms at the commencement of the university were "deemed advantageous to morals, to order, and to uninterrupted study." Now, the lawn rooms not only represent these aspects of the University, but they also represent the students at UVA that participate in so much more than studying. Yes, the lawn rooms are reserved for some of the smartest students here, but they are also for students who are the most involved and influential in their extracurricular activities. I think that this aspect of living in a lawn room has changed a lot, especially since there are more dorm spaces than just the lawn rooms.
