    1. Here we can have two underlying data structure for a stack, an array or a list (similar to different platforms, example, unix, windows). An orthogonal set of hierarchy will be StackHanoi, which only allows to add an element if it is smaller than the top of the stack. Another hierarchy is FIFO implementation using stack. Now for each of the orthogonal implementation since we can choose a list or an array for the underlying implementation.

      So, the underlying implementation forms another interface hierarchy of StackImpl, and actual Stack will "have a" StackImpl.

      I find this to be true because of my personal experiences living in a small town versus suburban communities. The average house is around the same size but the way the house was built is very different. Suburban communities have houses that are usually made our of stone and brick. The porch is a lot smaller and the windows are huge. In a small town, houses are more of a country style, made out of wood only. The porches are huge and the windows are small. These small differences could be because small towns enjoy being outside with the community than being inside watching the community through their big fancy windows.

      D&V: Sorry to overlap someone else's annotation, I just wanted to make sure I got all I needed highlighted. This is a blatant case of difference and variation. There is painstaking detail at how beautiful and nice this street looks, describing how it's clean and welcoming and freshly painted. This juxtaposes greatly with the next paragraph which describes a hideous building. It has no windows, it only has one blistered door (clearly not freshly painted) without even a bell or knocker, polished or otherwise. On top of this, instead of the cheerful, happy people on the street, there are tramps sitting in front of this building and children playing with knives on the doorstep. Clearly a very, very different image.

My brother and I make the last turn in the road and our house, windows lit with a familiar glow, comes into view at the bottom of a small hill.       This concluding anecdote was not present in my original draft. The ending was originally a paragraph on mindfulness, using our time wisely, and how to live our lives in as full a way possible. This original concluding paragraph was eventually merged with dialogue from the Father Mota interview which enhanced it significantly. Although the Father Mota paragraph is strong and could have stood on its own as a conclusion, I decided to make a return to the beginning of my piece. This was a choice of style, not of necessity. Personally, I enjoy a piece that goes "full circle", that returns to its original scene and builds off of it. There is a nostalgia, an emotional appeal to writing that goes "full circle" and returns to its source. With this approach in mind, I constructed a closing paragraph that returned to the moment my opening antedote ended upon: returning home on a summer evening of my childhood. I don't repeat my original story, but I build off of it. I describe the return journey in the conclusion as I did at the beginning of the piece in its nostalgic, slow-moving haze, but make one more addition. The part at the very end where "my feet stop" and I stop to observe a tree that I never had I believe was my most clever moment in the piece. While maintaining the authenticity and descriptiveness of my opening anecdote, I work into the scene something deeper. What I tie into this final scene is my underlying message of enjoying and living in the moment. Where I say at the end "this is a beautiful tree; I am happy my feet stopped me", I feel as if it will move the reader to notice something in their own lives. I hope this conclusion, and especially this final line, touches the reader in some way emotionally and evokes a consciousness to living in the moment: to take a step back and be still.

      In this article, Tick argues that the world of design is falling behind in the changing landscape of gender identity. She then points to how design is still under the influence of modernism, which was a movement shaped by predominately male perspectives, and she says that it wasn't until quite recently that we started to see a more feminine design coming into the workplace with windows and softer colors. She then goes on to compare the workplace to other areas of design like fashion, which she says is one of the most forerunners in gender evolution because of its rapid movement. She ends the article by addressing the problem of the transgender people and bathrooms by stating that in the near future, we should start to see design in the workplace that accommodates to all sexual orientations.

      The article starts off with the acknowledgment of the changing in gender roles. Because of such changes, Green appeals that designers should take note of these differences and help promote acceptance and change through their designs. Green then goes on mentioning the condition of design within the working world of today, to which she attributes to the modernism movement; a movement deeply connected to the male perspective, as they are the ones that dominate the working force. Green makes the claim that a wave of feminism will hit the work force, in response, Tick reaches out to designers on that they should focus on incorporating "gender sensitivity" into the workplace. Giving examples of the type of changes, such as adding more windows, more "softness in texture," in essence, a re-haul of the old solid workplace catered to the male perspective, to that one that focuses on softness and hospitality.

      The article then shifts gear to the actual instances where gender sensitivity has made its way into the way things are designed. Tick adds that the fastest field to incorporate this sensitivity is within fashion, due to its rapid movement. Tick gives examples of designs, such as a woman's military coat, and masculine designs for male makeup, which have been made in attempts to accommodate the changing gender roles. Ending the article, Tick brings up transgenders face on a daily basis, the use of bathrooms. Tick argues that the very first step should be providing an environment that allows an individual to express his or her identity, the issue of bathroom usage then, is the stepping stone towards creating such an environment.

      I work better in the indoor nature settings because it is more private and not too overwhelming. I am not a fan of bugs and grass makes me itch so I enjoy being inside even though I still appreciate nature. Having plants and other natural resources inside is a great balance.

      Basically, this serves as my sole interaction with nature at Georgia State which means I engage in incidental attention during these transactions. I didn't know this classification previously. I do recognize with the limited space that Georgia State owns however, it could be rather difficult to construct. Regardless, urban areas need more nature, which is noted immensely with GSU.     1. C was developed in 1972 by Dennis Ritchie while working at Bell Labs in New Jersey. The transition in usage from the first major languages to the major languages of today occurred with the transition between Pascal and C. C++ provides an elegant way to track and manipulate hundreds of instances of people in elevators, or armies filled with different types of soldiers. It is the language of choice in today’s AP Computer Science courses. In the early 1990’s, interactive TV was the technology of the future. Sun Microsystems decided that interactive TV needed a special, portable (can run on many types of machines), language. This language eventually became Java. In 1994, the Java project team changed their focus to the web, which was becoming “the cool thing” after interactive TV failed. The next year, Netscape licensed Java for use in their internet browser, Navigator. At this point, Java became the language of the future and several companies announced applications which would be written in Java, none of which came into use.

    1. I don't know what then, I just remember somehow. Around the same time I install renoise, I also install vim. Then in renoise I go to Help>Show Preferences Folder.... Then I right click on Config.xml, then edit in VIM. Then I /search for showscr or something like that. Change false into true, done. On windows sometimes I'm lazy and I just modify the one shortcut that I use to have --scripting-terminal or something as an argument.       This is an image of the Turner-Burr house which was structurally different from most vernacular houses of the nineteenth century. In my opinion, the house reminds me of a classic one-story shotgun style home because of the structure's long and narrow frame. Shotgun houses originate from African influences which could be a coincidence or it could be intentional due to the African Americans living in the community. Additionally, for such a small house, there were plenty of windows that acted as a primary light source. Since electricity was not accessible during this time, it makes sense that the building had numerous windows; it was a necessity.

      It is interesting that the Louvre started as a simple stronghold and evolved to be a palace fit for kings. This makes me wonder how the Louvre became the famous museum that we know it as today.

A transcript is by definition a copy of their education record. The transcript is often printed on a piece of paper with formal letterhead, perhaps with a watermark or stamp to show that it’s “official.” This lack of portability continues in much digital schoolwork too. Even if students are encouraged to create online portfolios or to use services like Google Apps for Education in order to store all their work, they don’t actually get to take that work with them when they move or graduate. Instead of focusing on protecting and restricting students’ Web presence, UMW helps them have more control over their scholarship, data, and digital identity.","markups":[{"type":3,"start":0,"end":34,"href":"http://umw.domains/","title":"","rel":"","anchorType":0}]},{"name":"48f3","type":1,"text":"The Domains initiative enables student to build the contemporary version of what Virginia Woolf in 1929 famously demanded in A Room of One’s Own — the necessity of a personal place to write. Today, UMW and a growing number of other schools believe that students need a proprietary online space in order to be intellectually productive.","markups":[{"type":2,"start":125,"end":144}]},{"name":"dedd","type":1,"text":"As originally conceived at the Virginia liberal arts university, the Domains initiative provides students and faculty with their own Web domain. It isn’t simply a blog or a bit of Web space and storage at the school’s dot-edu, but their own domain — the dot com (or dot net, etc) of the student’s choosing. The school facilitates the purchase of the domain; it helps with installation of WordPress and other open source software; it offers both technical and instructional support; and it hosts the site until graduation when domain ownership is transferred to the student.","markups":[]},{"name":"0e9d","type":1,"text":"And then — contrary to what happens at most schools, where a student’s work exists only inside a learning management system and cannot be accessed once the semester is over — the domain and all its content are the student’s to take with them. But there remains this notion, deeply embedded in Domain of One’s Own, that it is important to have one’s own space in order to develop one’s ideas and one’s craft. It’s important that learners have control over their work — their content and their data. Students have control over the look and feel of their own sites, including what’s shared publicly. This means they have some say — although not complete — over their personal data, and in turn they begin to have an understanding of the technologies that underpin the Web, including how their work and their data circulate there.","markups":[]},{"name":"f11c","type":1,"text":"At the simplest level, a Domain of One’s Own helps students build their own digital portfolio. They can be used in a classroom setting in order for students to demonstrate their learning. These portfolios can contain text, images, video and audio recordings, giving students opportunities to express themselves in a variety of ways beyond the traditional pen-and-paper test or essay. One student uses her domain to showcase her artwork. Another chronicled her semester abroad. Debates about what happens to student data — who it’s shared with, for example — seldom include students’ input. As time went on, we talked a lot more about technical issues (backup, recovery, privacy options, hosting laws in different countries, etc). But we also talked a lot more about digital citizenship, safety, control, design, etc. The kids saw the site much more as their own and their responsibility.”","markups":[]},{"name":"09f8","type":7,"text":"The importance of giving students responsibility for their own domain cannot be overstated. This can be a way to track growth and demonstrate new learning over the course of a student’s school career — something that they themselves can reflect upon, not simply grades and assignments that are locked away in a proprietary system controlled by the school.","markups":[]},{"name":"2e26","type":1,"text":"And if a student owns their own domain, as she moves from grade to grade and from school to school, all that information — their learning portfolio — can travel with them.","markups":[]},{"name":"4377","type":1,"text":"Education technology — and more broadly, the culture of education — does a terrible job with this sort of portability and interoperability. When a student moves to a new school, for example, they often have to request their transcript, a document that lists their courses and their grades. A transcript is by definition a copy of their education record. The transcript is often printed on a piece of paper with formal letterhead, perhaps with a watermark or stamp to show that it’s “official.” This lack of portability continues in much digital schoolwork too. Even if students are encouraged to create online portfolios or to use services like Google Apps for Education in order to store all their work, they don’t actually get to take that work with them when they move or graduate. (In the case of Google Apps, you can download your files. But then you’ll need to find a new place to store them.) Too often, students’ work in these systems gets deleted over the summer months as schools aren’t in the business of permanently storing student work.     1. Following the Orion reference, "the boatman" is stated outright this time alluding to Charon, the ferryman of Hades who carries souls along Styx. This directly references the sea that the hunter is trapped on: the division between the world of the living and the world of the dead. This also serves as a potential reference to where Kafka acquired the idea for the appearance of the hunter windows would be shut, they would all lie in bed, with sheets thrown over their heads Max Brod, one of Kafka's closest friends and his literary executor who defied Kafka's wishes and published his work rather than burn it studied religions and might've been familiar with the pagan tradition of covering the face of the deceased to prevent the spirit from leaving the body to be a ghost for all eternity. Kafka might've lifted this idea to show how afraid the citizens of Riva would be if the hunter, a wandering spirit, would ask for help. Go back to the page The thought of wanting to help me is a sickness and has to be cured with bed rest. Rest cures were a very common way of treating sicknesses at the time this was written. Kafka at the time of writing this story was just diagnosed with tuberculosis and was going through the preliminary stages of seeking treatment. He would then be subject to rest cures for the years to follow up until the completion of this story in 1922. The fact that this is written at the end could match the timeline and Kafka's failing health even with the rest cures (with his death only two years later). The hunter is now trying to solidify his place among biblical figures - a claim almost equating to himself as someone without sin for living an extremely long life. Biblical scholars have for years equated declining longevity in the bible to the introduction and practice of sin. Go back to the page And now are you intending to remain with us in Riva? "Remain in me, and I will remain in you" (John 15:4). Go back to the page it journeys with the wind which blows in the deepest regions of death. A typical end to Kafka's work. The ending is full of lament, anguish and anxiety. There is no end to the hunter who is to forever remain in purgatory - but aren't the people of Riva living in their own form of purgatory as the cycle of their mundane lives repeat? The accident of the hunter's fall deals less with death but the inability to die. It seems unreasonable to expect any life that has only been on this Earth for 18 years to have a defined shape to it.  Of course, by this point some people may very well have experienced a moment where the course of their existence was altered, but I really haven’t. So, instead of sharp peaks and curving valleys, it makes more sense to envision my life so far as a jumble of shattered fragments, memories and moments that wink in and out of sight as they fade with time and sometimes resurface.  The glass is shattered not because of any large impact in particular, but more because that is the nature of glass; like memories it breaks off, and chips away as time progresses. Sometimes I imagine myself hovering over the heap of scattered pieces, peering into their smooth surfaces, and trying to glimpse what is inside.  In no particular chronological order, the ones nearest to the top are the clearest; they are tiny windows into my past.  As I dig through the fragments and move towards the bottom, they become more opaque- memories of less significance- and instead of windows, the fragments become more like pieces of a mirror.

      These paragraphs originally came later in the piece, but in later rounds of editing, as I focused on creating a narrative that was clear for readers, I decided to make them more of an introduction. I felt that by moving theses thoughts to the very beginning instead of having them as a moment of backtracking within the piece, I would be able to keep them (and opinions that I thought were essential to creating an 'I' character) while allowing the rest of the narrative to progress as a more linear story.

The heating, air-conditioning, and bright lights eliminated the need for windows, so in the 1950s and ’60s, stores without windows were built inside new shopping malls.

      People still using bright light and strong air conditioning to attract consumers come in their malls and walk around. Products may look better under the light and that always cheer up people to buy them. Also in the days that have high temperature, people will choose to stay in a shopping mall and enjoy free cooling system rather than stay at home.

    1. You’ll need to be a Mac user

      Note: this annotation is orphaned because I've changed the lesson text to support Windows. Keeping it here for posterity (and until I figure out if there's a way for Hypothesis users to edit what's highlighted).

      Jekyll isn't officially supported for Windows, which means none of the official Jekyll documentation (the pages that walk you through setting up Jekyll and what its different pieces do) addresses Windows use. But! There are two Jekyll+Windows resources that Jekyll "unofficially" links to: http://jekyll-windows.juthilo.com/ and https://davidburela.wordpress.com/2015/11/28/easily-install-jekyll-on-windows-with-3-command-prompt-entries-and-chocolatey/

      I'm a Mac user generally, but I tested setting up Jekyll on Windows and I believe that the things you'd want to do differently in this lesson if using Windows are:

      1) Skip everything in the "Installing Dependencies" section: you won't need Xcode or Homebrew (which are Mac things) or NodeJS (not sure why, but the 2nd of the 2 links above suggest this is true?), and the instructions for Ruby/Ruby Gems and Jekyll rely on those and are thus incorrect for Windows user.

      2) We need a command line tool that recognizes the same commands Macs and Linux computers (i.e. Unix operating systems) do [need to change this in the lesson, which erroneously just says to use the "Command Prompt" tool and doesn't have a Windows-only install step].

      Visit https://git-scm.com/downloads and click on the "Windows" link under 'Downloads". Once the download has finished, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the steps to install Git Bash (leave all options the way they already are).

      3) At the "Installing Dependencies" point in the lesson, instead enter at a command prompt the steps David Burela suggests, which are as follows...

      Open "Command Prompt" (open your Start Menu and search for "Command Prompt" and an app you can open should come up).

      Install Chocolately (a package manager, like Homebrew is for Mac)

      5) Install Ruby (this will take a few minutes; don't forget to wait and not enter anything into the command line until the prompt appears again)

      6) Close the command line program and restart (Ruby won't work until you've done this once)

      7) Install Jekyll (if Windows Security gives you a warning popup, ignore it)

      What exactly makes this neighborhood worth visiting compared to any other? I, personally, only stroll through for crew practice, to walk to main or the T, or for illicit activities. I know that it's very quiet and surreal, but so is a park and parks have benches to sit down at. Especially considering you're calling the architecture of the homes basic and boring New England homes, I want to know what catches your appeal except for the desolation, and if strictly the desolation, then why that fact is enough to outweigh the contraries I mentioned before. On a side note, I think it could be a cool idea to explore the fact that people live in those homes regardless of how empty they seem from the outside. What do you think people would be thinking as they look out their windows and see a college student just sitting on the sidewalk in the middle of the day for 45 minutes not really doing anything? Is the emptiness universal, or just your perspective?

    1. Unlike Alexander, Thiis-Evensen does not consider how windows work as a significant locus of activity. Instead, he speaks of the window largely in terms of its formal existential expression. In other words, how, by its specific size, shape, and physical arrangement, does a window allow the interior and exterior of a building to speak or not to speak to the world beyond?  

      In terms of tenement housing, this idea is very central to the concept of light and how that can impact those on the outside. Tenements had very little light and as a result, were neglected and were associated with the dirty living conditions of the city.

    2. When people enter a room with a window, Alexander argues, they typically experience two forces: first, they are drawn toward the light; second, they want to rest and be comfortable.

      It's interesting how important windows are in making a room seem more comfortable. Having more light in a space makes you want to relax there. Even though my room is not ideal, I like doing my work near the window because it's large and lets in a lot of light.

      Simone creates the historical context for the discrimination that is present during her time in American history. She mentions the country’s inhumane history of slavery and the inferiority thought of black people. Power construct’s diminishing of the black identity and citizen during times of unequal rights stemmed from the ideology that black people were merely objects undeserving of rights or humane treatment. She repeats “do it slow” over and over again to reveal how repetitive racism and race crimes have been since the beginning of slavery and even hundreds of years later in the more modernized context. It seems to be something that has and will last forever. She repeats back some of the insults and stereotypes prominent in the white-racist ideology which were that black people were lazy, were rotten (as in destructive and harmful to society) and describes these ideas as being outright insane and ignorant, having no concrete truth whatsoever.

      This is one of the parts that stuck out to me the most in the video. When she recites this verse her anger and exasperation are palpable. She manages to condense the historical trauma of segregation and slavery into one song, and I feel like this one explicit mention of slavery set the tone of the song early on.

      Pymarc depends on someting called 'six'. If Six is not up to date, you can get an error, cannot import name python_2_unicode_compatible when you run import pymarc in the python interpreter or in your .py script.

      To solve this, try running 'sudo pip install --upgrade six`. On my machine, the six version was 1.4.1; upgrading brought it to 1.10 and pymarc worked.

    5. основные проблемы всегда связаны именно с проприетарными особенностями. Я говорил именно о том, что выбирая в качестве фундаментов проприетарные кактусы нелогично жаловаться на проблемы с портированием впоследствии. Лучше изначально выбирать те станадарты, которые присутствуют везде.

Все проблемы портирования в первую очередь связаны именно с нестандартными проприетарными реализациями (которые и упомянуты выше: макросы офиса, active X,...). И только во вторую с некоторыми особенностями конкретных непроприетарных реализаций.

    1. Добавь отсутствие полного доступа. Линукс, где ты можешь удалить любой файл, стал как глоток свежего воздуха в системе, где ты значишься за админа, но по факту просто продвинутый юзер.
    2. Добавь к этому, что технологии, которыми принуждали тебя пользоваться содержали дыры и ошибки безопасности, защита которых стала индустрией для антивирусных компаний. (Когда-то в винде даже антивируса не было и он подхватывал заразу во враждебной среде за 15 минут.) И несмотря на то, что все они обещали неуязвимость и крайнюю надежность и защищенность ОС случались масштабные эпидемии типа Conficker.
    3. Вот ты хотел слезть с Винды и не мог, потому что M$ всячески препятствовал тому, чтобы у тебя был выбор. Ты со своим линуксом не мог зайти даже в виндовую сетевую шару.

      I like how Mr.hooper's wearing of the black veil is channeling his reputation into a harrowing tall tale among the villagers. I can imagine the passing, strained whispers linger from neighbor to neighbor. The embellished accounts of despair, and the festering build up of dread contaminating susceptable minds
