In order to do this, a form of network-wide election takes place, where the node with the numerically highest ed25519 public key will win
Eh, that doesn't seem fair. What stops one generating keypairs until he gets a decently high one, cheating his chances?

A final point regarding the myth of hard work and poverty is that this mythis particularly powerful because it implies a sense of justice and fairness. Thosewho do well in life through their hard work are seen as deserving, and thosewho do not do well in life through their lack of hard work are also seen as de-serving of their fate.14 There is something comforting about the idea that peopleget their just rewards. Unfortunately, neither the world nor poverty is fair. AsMichael Harrington wrote in his 1963 book, The Other America:The real explanation of why the poor are where they are is that they madethe mistake of being born to the wrong parents, in the wrong section of thecountry, in the wrong industry, or in the wrong racial or ethnic group. Oncethat mistake has been made, they could have been paragons of will and mo-rality, but most of them would never even have had a chance to get out ofthe other America.15

If a site tries to charge me for work others do for free I block them. They're not paying these people to review, there's no standard of quality for these reviews. It's not something that should be charged for. Or maybe I just overdo things, I even refuse to use the self-checkouts at stores because there's someone they can pay for that and unless I get a discount for my work I'm not doing it. People keep allowing companies to get away with crap like that and now stores will have 1 employee and 20 self-checkout stations
-
Self checkouts should be giving us a discount for checking our own selves out. I've learned that you may put items under your cart and accidentally pay yourself by missing an item or two if you're in a pressured rush. Often I forget items in the store because I forget to bag them in a hurry. I figure the score is about even. I'm too lazy to go back and get what I forget by the time I get home. At least we should get a dollar off per $50 spent. It takes me 5 times as long to check myself out.

The problem with “first come, first served” is it incentivizes people to arrive early, which researchers say results in people waiting for the longest period of time. When this incentive is removed—under a “last come, first served” system—the queues are more efficient. Researchers suggest that under this model, people are forced to change their behaviors and arrive at the queues at a slower rate. When people who arrive last are served first, there is less of a bottleneck and thus less congestion in queues.
This is utterly fascinating simply because it's exactly the opposite of what you'd expect. Yet, if you think about it slowly (read through the paragraph a few times), that's very likely to make sense.
I don't necessarily see this in airports though. One usually arrives early not to "get in line" for the plane itself, but to get through security. Ergo, working to fix the whole "queuing" thing may (or may not be) predicated on dependencies (like getting closer parking and/or getting through security).

Dogs’ innate sense of fairness being eroded by humans, study suggests https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/dogs-wolves-unfairness-acceptance-human-owners-pets-behaviour-research-vienna-a7779076.html
While thinking about inequality in reading The Dawn of Everything, I started thinking about inequality and issues in other animal settings.
Why am I not totally surprised to find that animals' innate sense of fairness could be eroded by humans?
I wonder if this effect might be seen across all cultures, or only Western cultures with capitalist economies? Could we look at dogs in Australian indigenous cultures and find the same results?

Why is there a reservation fee?The main reason for reservations is to ensure an orderly and fair ordering process for customers when Steam Deck inventory becomes available. The additional fee gives us a clearer signal of intent to purchase, which gives us better data to balance supply chain, inventory, and regional distribution leading up to launch.

Penny's "Fair and Square" initiative went.Short version: they went full-on no bullshit: no limited time sales, no fake prices discounted, things cost what they cost, no more FOMO, no waiting for deals. It tanked. Horribly.

But all of these attempts misunderstand why the Open Source ecosystem is successful as a whole. The ecosystem of fairly standard licenses provides a level playing field that allows collaboration with low friction, and produces massive value for everyone involved – both to those that contribute and to those that don't. It is not without problems (there are many essential but unsexy projects that are struggling with funding), but introducing more friction won't improve the success of this ecosystem – it will just lead to some parts of the ecosystem to break off.

Open source is fundamentally good with the transparency and flexibility it brings; however, as our reliance on it goes up, the overall investment back into the ecosystem has not. It can be easy to take for granted the time and effort many developers put into open source projects. Yet it is with their time and effort that we often save our own.

The court's decision, which exonerated Hush-A-Phone and prohibited further interference by AT&T toward Hush-A-Phone users, stated that AT&T's prohibition of the device was not "just, fair, and reasonable," as required under the Communications Act of 1934, as the device "does not physically impair any of the facilities of the telephone companies," nor did it "affect more than the conversation of the user."

in short, he can persuade the multitude better than any other man of anything which he pleases, but he should not therefore seek to defraud the physician or any other artist of his reputation merely because he has the power; he ought to use rhetoric fairly, as he would also use his athletic powers.
Who determines the proper behavior of the rhetor? What if the rhetor believes it is necessary to defraud of the physician? obviously, the physician and others may oppose. There is no constant truth, so there is no constant fairness that the rhetor can exercise. POLITICS. This is ideal, but it is not practical.
