    1. Moreover, Midjourney apparently sought to suppress our findings, banning Southen from its service (without even a refund of his subscription fee) after he reported his first results, and again after he created a new account from which additional results were reported. It then apparently changed its terms of service just before Christmas by inserting new language: “You may not use the Service to try to violate the intellectual property rights of others, including copyright, patent, or trademark rights. Doing so may subject you to penalties including legal action or a permanent ban from the Service.” This change might be interpreted as discouraging or even precluding the important and common practice of red-team investigations of the limits of generative AI—a practice that several major AI companies committed to as part of agreements with the White House announced in 2023. (Southen created two additional accounts in order to complete this project; these, too, were banned, with subscription fees not returned.)

    1. Steve Bannon I mean to my to my delight 00:25:29 and horror read an entire section of my book team human aloud on war room pandemic and it was a section of the book that I looked at and I still there's nothing I can really change in it to defend it from being used in that 00:25:42 context
      • for:Douglas Rushkoff, Steve Bannon quoting Douglas Rushkoff, recontextualize, misquote, disquote
      • new portmanteau meaning: disquote
        • quoting another person but with a context opposite to the original author's
          • from disinformation
      • comment
        • thinking of what Douglas Rushkoff felt about Steven Bannon's use of his writing in a way that is opposite to what Rushkoff aspires to and advocates for,
          • we could not use the word "misquote" because it was verbatim
          • the portmanteau "disquote" can imply disinformation but it has a meaning that means a fake attribution of a quote, which is not quite right here
          • however, Bannon used Rushkoff's book chapter in a polar opposite context, to resonate with the pain of the masses, but lead to an end result that is diametrically opposite to the ultimate wellbeing of the hurt masses
          • this suggests a new meaning for the word "disquote", a quote used for quite divergent context
        • From a "Team Human" perspective, far right propaganda can be seen as using the content generated by the left in order to justify authoritarianism position that further consolidate power of the elites
        • The left critiques the many failings of neoliberalism and destructive capitalism by pointing out the social and ecological harm it causes and the same critiques can be coopted by the far right to rally the masses harmed by neoliberal policies.
        • The failing of the elite neoliberal class breaks up team human into perceived polarized team left and team far right (populist), where team populist is now mis-perceived to be the standard bearer of social justice.
        • The far right is stepping in to fill the gap of reacting to the enormous harm caused by neoliberal policies, but their solutions come with their own serious problems.
        • Team human, in the wide sense of the term must reclaim the territory for humanity

    1. Furthermore, as a result of the negative behaviours and emotions, trust levels are destroyed, culture is damaged and people are very likely to disengage from their work and the team. Optimal performance cannot be attained in these circumstances. In other words, this is likely to be costing the business a significant amount of money, lost performance and good people. Having a bad apple on a team can negatively impact the performance of the team by 30 – 40%.

    1. Work groups are characterized by the least amount of interdependence. They are based on organizational or managerial hierarchy. Work groups may meet periodically to hear and share information. Teams are highly interdependent - they plan work, solve problems, make decisions, and review progress in service of a specific project. Team members need one another to get work done

    1. In addition to the organically formed core team
    2. In the past 1 ½ years something weird happened: a real core team formed around the Trailblazer gems. I say “real” because in the past 15 years of OSS, I’ve had people come and go, being of great help but never staying and taking over long-term responsibilities - which I found to be the pivotal element of a core team. Eventually, those kids convinced me to start the Trailblazer organization on Github and move over all “apotonick gems”. Over the course of time, I saw myself giving away that aforementioned responsibility with a smile on my face, adding owners and collaborators to gems, yes, even giving away entire gems, letting people work on documentation and just trusting someone and their skills. I have no words to describe how good that feels!

    1. In Rust, we use the "No New Rationale" rule, which says that the decision to merge (or not merge) an RFC is based only on rationale that was presented and debated in public. This avoids accidents where the community feels blindsided by a decision.
    2. I'd like to go with an RFC-based governance model (similar to Rust, Ember or Swift) that looks something like this: new features go through a public RFC that describes the motivation for the change, a detailed implementation description, a description on how to document or teach the change (for kpm, that would roughly be focused around how it affected the usual workflows), any drawbacks or alternatives, and any open questions that should be addressed before merging. the change is discussed until all of the relevant arguments have been debated and the arguments are starting to become repetitive (they "reach a steady state") the RFC goes into "final comment period", allowing people who weren't paying close attention to every proposal to have a chance to weigh in with new arguments. assuming no new arguments are presented, the RFC is merged by consensus of the core team and the feature is implemented. All changes, regardless of their source, go through this process, giving active community members who aren't on the core team an opportunity to participate directly in the future direction of the project. (both because of proposals they submit and ones from the core team that they contribute to)

    1. Please annotate how you have felt about the current situation with the Team-preneurship class here. I will compile your annotations into a document that I can present at the next organizational meeting. I would like our needs and feelings to be represented in this process. Thanks, guys.

I most definitely am disappointed to hear that we will not be involved with the Team-prenuership class. I am really hoping that we are able to get to cooperate with them once their ideas are more developed. Being able to interact with a verity of people and effectively understand, and communicate ideas to them is a fundamental part of being a successful entrepreneur. I was really looking forward to being able to see how the business ideas of the other class progress and develop throughout the quarter. I also believe that our classes data research could be a benefactor to the other class. Although this first week of class seemed to be somewhat disorganized and chaotic, I have high hopes for the rest of the semester.

Some of the reasons why views are getting so extreme.

    1. This is better than the problem-based learning page I already posted so I will post this one too. it is easy to read and gives the instructional designer or teacher a quick and better-than-average explanation about problem based learning, which is a method of teaching in which learners form teams and learn through solving real problems. rating 4/5

    1. This is one of many pages that describes team based learning. The layout and typeface make this page easy enough to read. The content is rather brief and would suffice for someone who is trying to understand this approach and decide whether it is workable for their own adult learning and training context.

    1. The Bottom Line is that you will benefit from using the community group

Unlike other approaches to learning new PM concepts that span many disciplines and competencies, we help you focus on your strengths and concerns within groups, while developing a holistic solution, that optimally increases your competitive advantage.

      Steps to Creating a Group:

      • Join the Community
      • Create your Own Group
      • Invite Others to Join
    1. All About Community Groups

This group can help you create your own group.

      • To create a Group, select "New Group"
      • Select a Category that best fits the purpose of your Group.
      • Give your Group a title, a description
      • Make the Group Private or Public.
      • You can also select " Invite Only Group", so only people that are invited can join and see the group.

    1. The student records, memorizes, and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four times four really means, or realizing the true significance of "capital" in the affirmation "the capital of Para is Belem," that is, what Belem means for Pard and what Para means for Brazil.

This reminds me of Shor's views, which argues that "Education is more than facts and skills." By pointing out the ways that knowledge is viewed as static, unchangeable "facts", and able to move from the "narrative subject" to "narrative patient", Friere problematizes the current education system just as Shor does.

    2. The teacher cannot think for her students, nor can she impose her thought on them.

This goes back to the idea that learning is a back-and-forth dialogue, rather than a top-down oppressive process--a thought shared by Shor and Giroux, if not all the authors for this week.

    3. If men and women are searchers and their ontological vocation is humanization, sooner or later they may per-ceive the contradiction in which banking education seeks to main-tain them, and then engage themselves in the struggle for their liberation

Is this the process by which social-justice oriented citizens (the concept from last week's readings) are born?

    4. Education must begin with the solution of the teacher-student contradiction, by reconciling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teachers and students

What are practical ways that the "teacher-student contradiction" that Friere discusses could be worked out? What sort of things are necessary to create a classroom/learning culture where this is possible?

    5. In the banking concept of education, knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing.

This idea of the banking system goes against Giroux's idea that education should provide students "how knowledge is related to the power of self-definition and to use the knowledge they gain both to critique the world in which they live and, when necessary, to intervene in socially responsible ways in order to change it" (Giroux 14).

    6. Worse yet, it turns them into "containers," into "receptacles" to be "filled" by the teacher. The more completely she fills the receptacles, the better a teacher she is. The more meekly the receptacles permit themselves to be filled, the better students they are.

But with what are we currently filling these "containers" and "receptacles"? The "better students" are the ones who, as Wise and Bone argue, engage in a coercive system of grades.

    1. What everyone needs most is a clear understanding of their part in the journey.

What leaders need to do in the forming stage - work with the team to develop clear goals, expectations & roles

    2. Part of this is leading them to realize that their new team members are bringing skills to the table that help everyone to succeed in a way they couldn’t do by themselves. Setting goals together puts these skills and interests into the open.

Delicate balance as leaders often have something that they need to get done, but there needs to be room for team members to individually contribute here in order to achieve buy-in.

    1. The choosing we do to make our narratives (whether or not we are aware of the nature of our choosing) also makes our narratives into arguments

Taylor Swift declaring that she "would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that [she] never asked to be a part of" during her feud with Kim and Kanye is relevant here, I just can't decide how.

(EDIT: @kpolizzi's annotation below is actually very relevant to this... this feud can pretty much be understood as their narratives impinging upon one another.)

Interesting approach. Puts the primary teacher’s roles in a new light.

    1. In closing, try this experiment: Think of the kid who was the best player on your first rec-league soccer team, or in Little League baseball, or Pop Warner football. Now think of that one kid you knew in grade school or high school who went on to play in the pros, or at least Division I. Doesn’t matter which sport.

In this paragraph they are talking about how a kid in your first rec-league soccer or in little league baseball. Now come to think of that kids as a professional or atleast premier league. This paragraph relates to me because I have friend that started playing soccer with but they are now In a camp which I hopefully will be going to.

    2. The great thing about team sports is that the most important qualities are transferrable. Speed, power, reaction time, movement skills, and hand-eye coordination carry over from one to another

In this paragraph their are talking about how team work important qualities which are speed power, movement skills etc. This defiantly relates to me because I play for a soccer team which has the same momentum. The fact we have to work on all type of skill set.
